Founded in 1998 by a small group of interested parents, BYL has grown from a program of approximately 30 boys at the 5th thru 8th grade levels to its present participation of over 100 players from the town of Bourne Massachusetts. Introduction into the game of lacrosse now commences at the 1st grade level with the learn to play program (LTP) through and including 8th grade boys and girls teams.
BYL's focus is grounded with the Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League, the league within which all of BYL games are played. Their mission, as well as ours, is this simple. We seek to create a weekly game schedule for with other MBYLL towns to compete, and to promote the growth of the game of lacrosse throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.
No standings are kept. There are no league championships or playoffs. We strive to play all players as equally as possible with the goal of teaching the sport and providing a fun experience for all involved. Our goal is to provide an outlet for kids that has not been swept up in the pressure filled, win-at-all-cost mania that is too present in today's youth sports. |
